The lamb had fallen onto a narrow ledge.

This created paperwork.

Not official paperwork.

Emotional paperwork.

Four sheep stood at the top of the cliff staring downward.

The lamb was technically alive.

Which made the situation urgent.

A meeting was called immediately.

The meeting lasted twelve seconds.

Most of it was staring.

One sheep suggested panicking.

The idea received strong support.

A second sheep suggested more panicking.

The proposal passed unanimously.

Eventually someone remembered the shepherd.

The shepherd was lowered by rope.

This seemed reasonable.

At least compared to the meeting.

The lamb continued bleating.

The cliff continued being a cliff.

Neither side appeared willing to compromise.

Several difficult minutes later, the lamb was rescued.

Everyone celebrated.

Except the shepherd.

He was still hanging from the rope.

The sheep considered this a secondary problem.

Family priorities are important.

The lamb spent the rest of the day standing unusually close to everyone.

The sheep pretended not to notice.

They also stood unusually close to the lamb.

No further meetings were required.
