By late afternoon, the little bee had officially given up trying to look “productive.”
First, he floated through the garden holding a daisy almost bigger than himself, smiling as if pollination could wait another five minutes. Then he discovered an entire jar of honey unattended near the fence and decided this clearly qualified as “an emergency.” By sunset, he somehow convinced himself that flying with a pink balloon counted as efficient transportation. The other bees were not entirely convinced. One reportedly flew into a tulip after staring too long.
But the real scandal came later.
While the hive buzzed through endless schedules and serious wing business, the little bee quietly curled up on a leaf and fell asleep beneath the evening breeze. No spreadsheets. No pollen reports. No motivational speeches. Just tiny snores and one very satisfied smile. And strangely enough, the garden still bloomed the next morning anyway. Perhaps that was the bee’s greatest discovery of all: sometimes joy is also part of the work.
