PART 4 — Ears That Hear

The words remained with them.

“Blessed are the eyes that see what you see.”

The hillside was quiet again.

Some of the disciples still sat where they had been listening. Others walked slowly along the slope, speaking to one another in low voices.

The wind moved softly through the grass.

Seeing was one thing.

But there were also words that needed to be heard.

Not long before this moment, three of them had followed Jesus up a mountain.

Peter.

James.

And John.

The path climbed steadily between stones and low shrubs that clung to the hillside.

Below them the villages slowly disappeared into the distance.

By the time they reached higher ground, the light was beginning to fade across the valleys.

The air grew cooler.

For a moment the mountain was completely still.

Only the wind moved quietly across the rocks.

While they were there, Jesus began to pray.

The three disciples remained nearby, watching.

As he prayed, something changed.

His face shone with a brightness they had never seen before.

His clothing became radiant.

Two figures stood beside him.

Moses.

And Elijah.

They spoke with him quietly.

The disciples struggled to remain awake, yet the moment held them there.

Then a cloud formed around them.

The mountain disappeared into its shadow.

From within the cloud a voice was heard.

“This is my beloved Son.”

The words settled over the mountain.

For a moment no one moved.

Then the voice spoke again.

“Listen to him.”

The cloud slowly lifted.

The mountain looked the same as before.

The rocks.

The wind.

The fading light across the hills.

And Jesus stood there alone.

The three disciples said little about what they had seen.

But the words they had heard on that mountain remained with them.

Listening to Him is just as important as seeing. Blessed are those who truly hear. 🙏
