Silent Gift Riddle
His Indescribable Gift always arrives quietly—no trumpets, no fanfare—and maybe that’s why we often overlook it. Christmas is more than cheerful dates on a calendar or glittery greeting cards; it is a mystery that slips gently into human life, carrying a sacred paradox: the Infinite choosing to fit inside the fragile limits of a newborn. In a humble manger, silence became the witness to the greatest declaration in history—the voice of Love choosing the lowest path to reach the farthest heart.
Among the scent of hay and the warmth of animals, we find more than a newborn Child; we find a heavenly decision that shook the universe. That cosmic surrender began in Bethlehem, not at Golgotha—yet the two are tied like one beating heart. The manger is the starting point of the road to the Cross—two scenes that seem opposite, yet carry one shared message: “This is the price of My Love.”
Even the Magi, with all their learning and astronomical insight, understood they were not witnessing an ordinary moment. Gold, frankincense, and myrrh were not random offerings; each was a prophecy wrapped in an object. They weren’t giving simply to honor a baby but to declare His identity as King, Priest, and Redeemer. And the irony is this: true Christmas is not about what we give to Him, but what God has given to us.
And that Gift was not easy for Him. It wasn’t money, galaxies, or cosmic wealth—those would have been simple for the Creator. But when He gave His Son, Heaven “emptied itself,” not in resources but in overflowing Love. Everything immeasurable was poured out onto earth in the form of a tiny, fragile infant. That Gift cost God something He had never released before: His very Heart.
From this, we learn that true giving is never measured by size or shine. True giving is measured by self-emptying and the cost of sacrifice. Jesus illustrated this contrast vividly: from the rich young man who struggled to let go of his wealth, to the poor widow who offered two small coins—her entire livelihood. The value of a gift never rests in numbers, but in the heart behind it.
His Gift—Jesus—is the mold for every blessing we ever long for. When God gave His Most Precious, He was saying one thing: “I withhold nothing from you.” And here we stand today, faced with a simple yet piercing question: If He has given everything, are we ready to give out of that abundance, rather than from the leftovers of our lives?
If so, let us begin this article with an open awareness that Christmas is not just a story. It is an invitation to enter the mystery of the Indescribable Gift—and to learn how to become true givers through the Light that has come to us.
