“When Worry Meets Peace”

(based on Genesis 21:22–34, Ephesians 3:20–21, and 5:1–2)

It began beside a well — a quiet place that carried the sound of water and the weight of promises.
Abimelech came to Abraham not with pride, but with worry.
He had once seen the hand of God defend Abraham’s wife, Sarah, and it shook him.
Now, he feared that same power might turn against him, for God’s presence with Abraham was undeniable.

In that moment, power and peace met eye to eye.
Abimelech’s army could not protect him from divine favor; only honesty could.
So, he sought an oath of peace — a covenant carved not by strength but by trust.
He recognized what every heart eventually learns: when God is near, worry trembles, and peace begins to whisper.

The two men stood over the well, the symbol of life and provision.
Abraham gave seven lambs, a sign of sincerity — a visible mark of invisible faith.
That day, Beersheba became not only “the well of seven” but also “the well of peace.”
Where fear had spoken loudly, faith now answered softly.

Abraham planted a tamarisk tree there.
Roots sank deep into desert soil as if to declare, “Peace can grow even in dry places.”
He called on the name of the Everlasting God, the One whose presence calms all kingdoms and quiets every anxious heart.

Centuries later, another voice spoke on a hillside: “Do not worry.”
It was Jesus — the Son of that same covenant.
His words echoed Abraham’s faith and answered Abimelech’s fear.
He did not promise ease, but a kind of peace that survives the storm.

And so, the story still breathes.
When worry meets peace, something holy happens.
The fearful draw near, the faithful plant trees, and God writes His calm across the trembling soil of human hearts.
For the same God who calmed Abraham’s world still speaks: “Peace be with you.”
