The race of faith is not won at the starting line but at the finish. We have seen how some fall short, how worship can be empty, how the Word must become breath itself, how the soil of the heart determines fruit, and how true sight begins with mercy.
But one truth must remain clear: the enemy never rests. He is a relentless adversary. “Your enemy the devil prowls around like a roaring lion looking for someone to devour.” (1 Peter 5:8). He is patient in his cruelty, waiting for the weary, for the distracted, for those who loosen their grip on truth. His voice whispers through temptation, his claws reach through despair, and his teeth seek to crush hope.
We glimpse his likeness in the story of 1 Samuel 11:1, when Nahash the Ammonite laid siege to Jabesh-Gilead. Jabesh pleaded for deliverance, and Nahash’s brutal terms revealed his heart of oppression. Nahash is a shadow of Satan—the enemy who enslaves and humiliates. Jabesh mirrors the children of God—weak, often cornered, yet precious to their Deliverer. And just as God raised Saul to rescue them, so Christ, the greater Deliverer, has risen to shatter every chain, silence every threat, and rescue us from the enemy’s schemes.
In these last days, Satan seeks not merely to harm, but to divert the gaze of God’s people. He blinds the eyes with glittering distractions. He fills the ears with hollow promises. He clutters the heart with weeds of pride and bitterness. He dulls the spirit with weariness and compromise. Yet Scripture reminds us: “We are not unaware of his schemes.” (2 Corinthians 2:11).
Therefore, from all we have studied, we know the path forward:
- By finishing the race with faith, not with presumption.
- By worshiping not with hollow rituals, but in spirit and in truth.
- By breathing the Word as oxygen for our souls.
- By cultivating hearts that not only receive but multiply the seed of truth.
- By fixing our eyes on Christ, the lamp that drives away the night, the bread that sustains, the vine that gives life.
And here lies our eternal hope: the crown is not uncertain. It has already been promised by the righteous Judge. The Lion of Judah has already conquered the roaring lion of deception. The cross is proof, the empty tomb is assurance, and the Spirit within us is the seal.
The trumpet will sound. The dead in Christ will rise. Those who remain will be caught up to meet Him in the clouds. The enemy’s roar will be silenced forever, and the faithful will stand in radiant victory.
So let us run—not with trembling feet but with steadfast faith. Let us worship—not with empty names but with burning hearts. Let us live—not stumbling in the shadows but walking in His marvelous light. And let us finish—not as those barely crossing the line, but as runners ablaze with His fire, greeted by the words: “Well done, good and faithful servant.”
And there, at the finish line of eternity, the Judge who is righteous will place upon us the crown that never fades—the crown secured by grace, carried by faith, and worn in glory.
