Writing to remember, sharing to inspire

Ephesians 1:9–10 –
“He made known to us the mystery of his will according to his good pleasure, which he purposed in Christ, to be put into effect when the times reach their fulfillment—to bring unity to all things in heaven and on earth under Christ.”

Ephesians 2:18 –
“For through him we both have access to the Father by one Spirit.”

Colossians 1:18 –
“And he is the head of the body, the church; he is the beginning and the firstborn from among the dead, so that in everything he might have the supremacy.”

Introduction:
The climax of the story does not rest merely in Samuel’s rise or Eli’s fall,
but in the unveiling of God’s eternal plan:

Jesus Christ as Head of all things.
What began with a barren woman’s tears, a corrupt priesthood, and a boy hearing God’s voice finds its true fulfillment in Christ.

The fractured leadership of Eli’s line prefigured humanity’s inability to sustain holiness on its own. Only in Jesus—our eternal High Priest, Prophet, and King—does heaven and earth find unity and reconciliation.

Historical Validation:
Paul’s words in Ephesians echo the hope long awaited in Israel’s history.

The collapse of Eli’s house, the rise of Samuel, and the later monarchy of David were steps toward the greater promise.

Early believers, as Clement of Rome testifies in his letter to the Corinthians (c. 95 AD), saw Christ as the true High Priest who surpassed all others: “Through Him we see, as in a mirror, the flawless reflection of the divine will.” This testimony aligns with Paul’s vision: history moves toward the headship of Christ, who brings all things together.

Quotes:
“Jesus Christ is not valued at all until He is valued above all.”
– Augustine of Hippo

“Christ is the meeting point of eternity and time, the joining of heaven and earth, the bridge from God to man.”
– Catherine of Siena

Conclusion:
In Christ, every strand of Israel’s story is gathered into one great design.

  • Hannah’s cry,
  • Samuel’s calling,
  • Eli’s judgment, and
  • the promise of a faithful priest all converge in Him.

Unlike the priests who failed, Christ mediates perfectly;
unlike kings who faltered, Christ reigns eternally.

He is the Head—cosmic, supreme, and personal—reconciling us to the Father and granting us direct access by the Spirit.

Contemporary Challenge:
Today, many acknowledge Christ as a figure of history but not as the Head of their lives.

The danger is treating Him as optional counsel rather than supreme King.

In a fragmented world, the Church must reclaim the truth that all things—visible and invisible—hold together in Christ.

Our challenge is to live in such a way that His reign is not theory but reality, seen in our unity, our holiness, and our witness. Only then will the world glimpse the joy of belonging to Him who is both our Lord and our Head.
