Writing to remember, sharing to inspire

1 Samuel 3:4 –
“Then the Lord called Samuel. Samuel answered, ‘Here I am.’”

Isaiah 55:8–9 –
“For my thoughts are not your thoughts, neither are your ways my ways, declares the Lord. As the heavens are higher than the earth, so are my ways higher than your ways and my thoughts than your thoughts.”

Luke 1:37 –
“For no word from God will ever fail.”

What began as Hannah’s private grief became a national turning point.

God transformed her tears into the beginning of renewal for Israel.
Samuel, the boy given in prayer, grew up in the temple and heard the voice of God at a time when “the word of the Lord was rare.”

The mystery is this: God often takes the overlooked, the weak, and the unexpected, and from them unfolds His global purposes. Hannah’s personal pain was woven into the fabric of Israel’s redemption, and ultimately into the coming of Christ.

Historical Validation:
This period of silence—when prophetic visions were scarce—was a real and devastating mark in Israel’s history.

Josephus highlights the decline of Eli’s household as a dark age for the sanctuary in Shiloh (Antiquities, Book V). Yet into this silence came Samuel, a boy untrained, hearing God’s voice for the first time.

This echoes later with Christ choosing fishermen and tax collectors to bear His message, proving that God’s wisdom defies human expectation.

Quotes:
“God moves in a mysterious way, His wonders to perform.”
– William Cowper

“Faith is the bird that feels the light when the dawn is still dark.”
– Rabindranath Tagore

Conclusion:
The calling of Samuel reveals that God does not depend on institutions alone but on hearts willing to listen.

Eli, though old and compromised, still guided the boy to recognize God’s voice, showing that even failing vessels can point toward truth.

In Samuel, Israel received a prophet who would anoint kings and restore honor to God’s name. In Christ, we receive the ultimate Prophet, Priest, and King, the One who unites heaven and earth under His headship (Ephesians 1:10).

Contemporary Challenge:
Today many feel that the “word of the Lord is rare.”

Voices of truth are drowned out by noise, distraction, or compromise.

Yet God still calls, often through unexpected means.
The challenge is whether we will recognize His voice amid the silence and confusion.
If the Church humbles itself to listen, even the youngest and least expected may be raised to speak God’s word powerfully once again.

A wonderful and moving reminder that God speaks even in the silence, often through the least expected. Samuel’s story shows His ways are always higher.

I do love the story of Samuel and Eli. There is so much here for us to learn. You always have such great quotes. The message of hearing God’s voice is greatly neglected today. Shout it loud, Livora! 💕🙏💕
