Unseen Value
The story of the prodigal son is not only about the sorrow of the child, but also the deep sorrow of a father—a sorrow that we often overlook.
In ministry, I once met a father who had lost his child.
With the deepest regret, he admitted how much he had loved his son, but those words of love had never been spoken while his son was still alive.
He described it as a lifelong regret.
Small Wonders
This grief marked not only his own heart but also ours, as we listened while trying to comfort him.
We wept together, strengthened one another, and came to realize how essential it is to express love while there is still time.
From that moment on, this father chose a new way of living.
He decided never again to hide his love.
He began to call his other children more often, even those living far away in different cities, and whenever they met, he would embrace them tightly—something he had rarely done before.
Spreading Love
The pain of this father left a deep impression on us.
It helped us grasp the meaning of the prodigal son in a new way:
love is not meant to be stored in silence but to be expressed.
And through this, we caught a glimpse of the Father’s own heart revealed in Jesus’ parable—a heart willing to pour out love, even when so often misunderstood.
